Biography

James Elliott was born in 1858 in Ullesthorpe, Leicestershire, England. He was the son of Michael Elliott Wigley (aka Michael Elliott, Francis Elliott) and Eliza Scotton. ^[1][2][3][4]

In 1861, Michael Elliott (32, brickyard labourer) and his wife, Eliza (22) were living in Claybrooke, Leicestershire and had two children, James (2) and Elizabeth (0). Note that Michael is not using the surname Wigley that was entered at marriage. ^[6]

In 1871, Michael Elliott (45, a coal miner) and his wife, Eliza (34) were living in Gresley, Staffordshire along with their children, James (12), Eliza (10), Mary (7), - all three born in Ullesthorpe - Thomas (3) and William (1) - the latter two born in Newhall, Derbyshire. ^[7]

In 1881, Francis Elliott (50, a coalminer) and his wife, Eliza (41) were living in Smith's Yard, Donington le Heath, Leicestershire, along with three of their children, James (22), Thomas (14) and Martha (8). ^[8]

James Elliott's spouse was Annie Cooper. I can't find the marriage entry but the children have mother's maiden name of Cooper. ^[9][10][11]

James Elliott died age 68 years. His death was registered in Q1 of 1927 in Ashby De La Zouch Registration District, Leicestershire. ^[12][13]
