Maud Elizabeth Elliott was born about 1881 in New Zealand.
Maud married Thomas Cooke in 1902 in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. [1] They had two daughters and a son. In 1911 the young family moved to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, where they settled near Richmond and Thomas continued to work as a builder. In 1915 Thomas enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force. He was killed in action in July 1916 in the Somme Valley, France; being posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry.
By 1918, Maud had returned to Wellington with her children. In 1920 in Wellington she married a second time, to Thomas Clapperton. [2]
Having been widowed once more, for twelve months, she passed away, aged 89 years, in 1970 in New Zealand. [3]
