According to A.C. Jost: "He died 9 Dec 1846, aged 93. His wife's name was Elizabeth. She died Nov 1818. His occupation is recorded as being a vintner"[3]
Jost includes Benjamin Elliott in his list of members of the Associated Departments of the Army and Navy that arrived at Chedebucto, but his name is not included on the original rolls, so it is not clear why Jost included him in this group. Benjamin Elliott is included in the 3 Aug 1790 allocation of town lots at Guysbororough[4], so it is certain that he was among the Loyalists (or disbanded soldiers) who settled this region. Further research is needed to establish his history prior to 1790.
