Jezreel Ellis married Cynthia Honey in 1774 in Virginia. She was the daughter of John Frank Honey and Hannah Bussell. They had 8 children. He settled in Prince William County, Virginia on Bull Run Creek with his brother Rhodum. In 1792 they went to Kentucky and settled in Bourgon County, Kentucky. Then moved to Butler, Kentucky in Pendleton County. He was a large landowner. The first congregation of the Primitive Baptist Church in Pendleton County was formed at Jezreel's home around 1810.

The names of their children were: Sarah, James, John, Pollie, Laban, Stephen, Mildred, and Susan.
