Nathan was born ca 1697 at Sandwich, the son of William and Lydia (birth surname unknown) Ellis. He was named in his father William's will, dated 4 April 1716, in which his mother Lydia was to have control of his property until Nathan should reach age 21. The property was land located partly in Middleborough and partly in Rochester.[1]
Nathan "of Middleborough" married Mary White at Rochester on May 23, 1723.[2] They had two known children together before Nathan died in 1731.[1]

On 16 March 1731/32, his widow Mary was granted the administration of his estate.[3]
His inventory was taken on 16 May 1732 in Middleborough.[4]
