Obituary

ELLIS - H. HOLMES ELLIS, aged 63, passed away Saturday morning after a long illness.

He is survived by his wife MARY O'BRIEN; his son, HOWARD H. JR. of Toronto; his daughters, MARY ANNE and ELIZABETH, both of Grand Rapids; his grandchildren, KAREN, RICK, MARK, CINDY, SUSAN, ANNE, CATHY, KELLY, ELIZABETH and JAMES, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ellis was a former Director of Lithic Laboratory of Eastern United States, Assistant Curator of Ohio State Archeological Museum, member of Society of Purchasing Agents, Grand Rapids Museum Board Member, East Grand Rapids City Commissioner, Member of Boy Scout's of America Board, Civic Theater Board Member, Member of Furniture Guild of America, member S.A.R. member of Breakfast Club, charter member of Dwight D. Coffinberry chapter of Michigan Archeological Society, he was founder of Ohio Historical society and a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Funeral Mass will be said Monday morning at 11am at St. Thomas Church. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends will recite the Rosary Sunday at 8pm. The family will meet friends Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mr. Ellis lies in state at the O'Brien-Gerst Funeral Home, 3980 Cascade Rd. and I-96 expressway.
