Jeremiah Ellis, III was born about 1697 in Surry County, Virginia, a son of Jeremiah Ellis and Elizabeth Davis. Jeremiah left Surry County, Virginia before April 1740 for Lunenburg County, Virginia. Lunenburg County Tithe lists 1749, include both Jeremiah Ellis and son Abraham Ellis. When Jeremiah died, his son Abraham inherited a tract of land on Great Creek, of the Roanoke River. Jeremiah wrote his Will on in Lunenburg County, Virginia November 13, 1756 and probated May 3, 1757. The earliest Will of a person by the name of Ellis in the records of Lunenburg county, Virginia is that of Jeremiah Ellis, [1] In it he mentions his wife, Priscilla Ellis, and the following children:

A search of Ancestry.com and familysearch.org turned up no records except a mention in an article about his son, Abraham Ellis (see above). A search using both Google and Bing search engines did not turn up any references to sources for this Jeremiah Ellis.
The Revolutionary Military records for Jeremiah Ellis found on familysearch.org do not refer to this Jeremiah. They refer to another Jeremiah Ellis of West Greenwich, Rhode Island.
