John Ellis was born on the 30th of March 1796 in Casey County, Kentucky, the son of Richard Ellis 1770-1827 and his wife, Elizabeth "Kitty" JOHNS abt 1770-abt1830.
Children of John's Father, Richard and his Mother, Kitty Ellis:
John Ellis served as a Private in the War of 1812. He served under Captain William Wade's Company of the Kentucky Militia. John enlisted on the 10th of November 1814 and was discharged on the 10th of May 1815. He also received bounty land.
PVT John Ellis married Rosanna Hafley on the 19th of August 1819 in Casey County, Kentucky.

Pvt John Ellis passed away on the 14th of July 1879 in Macon County, Missouri and is interred in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery which is located 2 1/2 miles south on Highway 63 and 2 3/4 miles southeast of Macon. Bio and Research by 4th Great Niece, Carole Anne Brown-44556 Whittemore on the 29th of January 2017.

QUESTION: CENSUS Race: White or Mulatto??
1850-1870 Missouri, USA
On the 1850 Census, John was the only one on the page with the Race filled in. However, I think it looks like a W not an M. In the 1870 Census the entire page has the Race filled in and all are W. I think the 1850 was a transcription error
