On 28 Jun 1852, he and his family departed Council Bluffs, Iowa with about 260 individuals and 50 wagons. They left from the outfitting post at Kanesville, Iowa with the Uriah Curtis Ox - Team Wagon Company. They arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah on 29 Sep 1852.
