When Theodorus Elmer was born in 1730 in East Windsor, Connecticut, his father, Daniel, was 41 and his mother, Margaret, was 37. He married Martha Smith in 1761 in Cumberland, New Jersey. They had 13 children in 15 years. He died in 1785 in Cumberland, New Jersey, at the age of 55.
