Samuel was the second son of Edward and Mary (_____) Elmer, born in 1647 in Hartford. Hartford remained his lifelong home. Elizabeth Garrett became his wife in 1677. Together they had at least four children.
He died in Hartford, where he was buried in 1691. His estate was settled without the aid of the court.
Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Robert Elmore and Esco Elmer match on 36 out of 37 markers (see FTDNA kits 364027 and 369990) thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA Edward Elmer.
Big Y and YSEQ testing of descendants of Edward's sons Edward represented here by Esco Elmer and Samuel represented here by Robert Elmore have shown that men related to Edward Elmer carry Y SNPs R-A2276, R-A2278, R-A2280, R-A2281 and R-A2283 as family level SNPs.
