Biography
Jacomyntjen Kunst is inferred to be the child of Barent Kunst and Gerritjen Gerrits, born about 1690. No record of her birth has been found. She married Henry Pawling.
Her parents have sometimes been erroneously identified as Jaquemijne Cornelis Slecht and either her first husband Jan Barentsen Kunst or her second husband Jan Roelofsz Elting. Jan Barentsen Kunst died by 1668, too early to have been her father, and if her father was Elting, she would not have consistently used the surname Kunst. Additionally, the presence of Gerritjen Gerrits and Jacob du Bois (Gerritjen's second husband) as witnesses at the baptism of her daughter Zara is a strong indication that Gerritjen was her mother.
