Biography
Lavinia Bell was born in 1857 to Charles Ely and Mary Garrett. She is the great x2 granddaughter of Leonard M Garrett, Revolutionary War veteran, and progenitor of this Garrett family line. Bell's father, Charles, was killed in the Civil War battle at Poison Springs, Arkansas when she was 6. Her mother remarried about 1865. Bell's oldest sister's boyfriend murdered their stepfather, John Simpson, in Aug of 1870. The shock killed her pregnant mother a month later.
In 1878, Bell married James Hendrix, about 18 years her senior, a widower with a young daughter. I don't know the date of her death, but it was after the 1920 Census.
