Biography

Maud (1310 - 1369), is the daughter of Richard Emeldon (d. 1333).[3]

Siblings

  • Jane (younger sister)[2]

Marriage and Issue

After her first husband Richard de Acton died in 1342,[4] "Maud" became sole heir.

She outlived both husbands, her daughter, and her brother-in-law Nicholas de Acton and his barren wife Alice.

The family estates then passed to Maud and Richard's grandchildren through their daughter Elizabeth. She was an only child.

  5. Note that the Emeldon pedigree in A History of Northumberland, incorrectly asserts that Maud is the mother of Alexander Hilton's son Robert.[1]
The p.m. inq. (1363) of William de Felton, shows that Robert Hilton's mother was Eleanor de Felton.[2]
