Jane Empson was born about 1450 in Towcester, Northamptonshire, England. Her family name has not been proven and the only reference to her is the tenuous evidence of an entail she may have had lands in Buckinghamshire.^[1]

Jane married Richard Empson (born in 1446 in Towcester; son of Peter Empson and Elizabeth (Joseph) Empson). Their children were:

• Grace Empson (~1478– )
• John Empson (~1480– )
• Elizabeth Empson (~1490–1523)

Jane survived her husband who was executed on 17 Aug 1510.^[2]
