Biography

Christina Erb was born 1733, in Warwick Township, Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Hans Erb and Barbara (Shantz) Erb. In 1749, in Lancaster, PA, Christina married Daniel Neff, son of Hans Henrich Neff and Barbara (Bohm) Neff. [1]

Christina and Daniel in Hempfield Township, Lancaster county, Pennsylvania. The Township lines of the location where they lived and all of the children were born changed in 1749, and that portion of Hempfield Township became Manor Township. Children of Christina and Daniel are:

  • Henry Neff, born Christmas Day, 1749, named for Daniel's father, died December 4, 1821, in Washington, PA [2]
  • Daniel Neff, born 1751, died January 7, 1773, in Hellam Township, York county, PA
  • Barbara Neff, named for Christina's mother, born June 20, 1754, died March 24, 1832, married David Musselman (1750-1787) [3]
  • Anna Neff, born May 2, 1759, died January 22, 1842, in Lancaster county, PA, married Isaac Kauffman (1753-1825) [4]
  • John B. Neff, born 1761, died September 28, 1819, married Veronica "Fanny" Kauffman (766-1815) [5]
  • Jacob Neff, born 1763, died July 13, 1834

Christina's husband, Daniel Neff, Sr. died in 1768, when their youngest child was only five. Daniel was buried on their farm, in what is today the Neff-Hershey Cemetery, in Central Manor. Christina traveled with her sons Henry, John and Jacob to Huntington county, where she died March 11, 1806 and is buried in the Neff cemetery, in Petersburg, Huntington county, PA. Her grave was the earliest known burial in this cemetery, and a photograph of her small stone may be seen on her Find A Grave memorial. [6]
