Biography

Alexander (Erskine) Erskine Third Lord Erskine is a member of Clan Erskine.

Alexander Erskine, was the son of Thomas Erskine, 2nd Lord Erskine and Janet Douglas.[1][2]

He married, firstly, before 9 October 1466, Christian Crichton, daughter of Sir Robert Crichton of Sanquhar and Elizabeth Erskine.[2] They had issue, including:

  1. Robert,[3] 4th Lord of Erskine d. 9 Sep 1513
  2. Christian[3]
  3. Agnes[3]

He married secondly, before 15 July 1480, Helen Home, daughter of Sir Alexander Home of Home and Dunglas and Janet Hay.[2] He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] and succeeded to the title of 14th Earl of Mar and 3rd Lord Erskine upon his fathers death before 1493. He also held the office of Governor of Dumbarton Castle.

Alexander died between 10 March 1507/8 to 10 May 1509. [2]
