Biography

The 1828 census has Ruth Hayman and George Evans living together at Portland Head. With them is Margaret HAYMAN listed as EVANS, David HAYMAN listed as David MCINTOSH and they had their own child a five month old boy, Richard EVANS.

There are two births registered in 1828 which appear to be the same Richard EVANS. One was registered at Wilberforce, the other Sackville Reach in New South Wales. The two places are very close and are probably duplications in the index.

Whilst he later sometimes referred to as Richard HAYMAN, he mainly went by his birth name of Richard EVANS and it is believed he may have left the Hawkesbury district with his father in abt 1834/5.

He married Mary McKIN on 14 Sep 1853 in Narrabri, they had one son Charles in 1858 in Wee Waa..
