Biography

Nancy (Evans) Ryner was born Oct. 22, 1818, North Carolina, the daughter of Jacob Evans. Nancy and Peter Ryner married 21 November 1830 in Putnam County Indiana. Nancy died 13 April 1907, 88y, 5m, 21d, She is buried in North McDonald Cemetery, Madison County, Iowa.[1]

Jacob Evans and his family came to Madison County, Iowa 1851 from Groveland, Putnam County, Indiana. He was born Abt. 1797 in North Carolina and died June 05, 1870 in Winterset Cemetery, Winterset, Madison County, Iowa. He married SARAH CRAVER daughter of CHRISTINA CRAVER probably in North Carolina.

  2. CYNTHIA ELLEN EVANS born 20 November 1820 North Carolina, died 19 June 1901 in Winterset Cemetery, Winterset, Madison County, Iowa. She married JOHN ETCHISON November 19, 1843 in Putnam County, Indiana.
  3. FRANCES E. EVANS was born September 19, 1823 in North Carolina. She married WILLIAM H. ALEXANDER June 08, 1843 in Putnam County, Indiana.
  4. CELIA EVANS was born March 11, 1826 in North Carolina and died Abt. 1870 in Iowa. She married RICHMOND D. COOPER September 25, 1845 in Putnam County, Indiana.
  5. SARAH "SALLIE" EVANS born 11 March 1826 North Carolina, died 28 July 1904 Nickerson, Reno, Kansas. She married DAVID BRINSON 1852 in Madison County, Iowa, son of ZEBULON JR. and KATHERINE KEITHLEY.
  6. ASA WESLEY EVANS was born April 15, 1830 in Greencastle, Indiana and died November 29, 1876 in Winterset Cemetery, Winterset, Madison County, Iowa. He married MARY HENDERSON November 08, 1858 in Madison County, Iowa daughter of JAMES HENDERSON and NANCY AULT
  7. ELZA J. EVANS was born April 15, 1830 in Greencastle, Indiana, and died February 27, 1910 in Omaha, Nebraska. He married (1) MARY POLLY GUYE July 16, 1854 in Madison County, Iowa, daughter of SAMUEL GUYE. He married (2) ELIZA E. TANNEHILL February 17, 1869 in Madison County, Iowa, daughter of DENNISON TANNEHILL and LOUISA.
  8. TABITHA EVANS born 16 March 1833 Indiana. She married WILLIAM GARRETT March 27, 1853 in Winterset, Madison County, Iowa.
  9. LORENZO DOW EVANS born 11 October 1837 Indiana, died 30 November 1913 Iowa. He married (1) MARGARET A. BURRELL September 20, 1866 in Madison County, Iowa. He married (2) MARY CATHERINE LINER in 1867. He married (3) MARY RICH May 20, 1880 in Fairfield, NE.
Their children married in Madison County, Iowa :Akin, Beal, Bertholf, Blair, Callison, Carter, Clark, Cummins, Dunbar, Forbes, Foshier, Fountain, Glenn, Henderson, Holcomb, Hosington, Liner, Linville, Loehr, Logan, Lull, Klingman, Nichols, Reed, Ruby, Shill, Sims, Stultz, Whetstone, Whitenack, Williams, Woods, Wooten, Wortman."[3]
