Biography

"Sylvia Owen was daughter of Aaron Owen 1776-1846?, of Bainbridge, Chenango, NY, and his first wife, Mehitable Evans. Mehitable Evans was daughter of Rev War Veteran, Major Henry Evans. He was one of the "Vermont Sufferers" granted land in Chenango (Delaware and Otsego, also) Co. NY in the 1790's. Aaron and Mehitable Evans Owen, and her parents Major Henry Evans and ? are buried in the old pioneer cemetery in Sidney Plains, Delaware Co., NY. They R on Findagrave. Very interesting inscription on Henry Evan's stone!"^[1]

"Henry served as 2nd Major of the 1st Regiment, Cumberland Company, New York Militia. resided at Guilford, VT: served Col Church's regiment 1782 Henry was a Vermont Sufferer that took land in Bainbridge NY about 1789 Tombstone inscription: Mr. Henry Evans, died Aug 6 1792 Ae 58 years O.S. This man came to this country at an early day whare nothing dwelt but beasts of prey or men as fierce & wild as they."^[2]
