Biography

Josiah Evans, Son of Josiah Evans and Sirildia Luttrell, Born 5 April 1842, Died 22 May 1915. Josiah's father seems to have died soon after Josiah was born as his mother remarried in 1844 to Henry W Spainhower of Morgan Co., IL.

Josiah married twice, First to Susan C. Long, who presumably died in childbirth, and then to Isabella Vaughn. He has seven known children from these marriages.

Josiah was a resident of Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri.

After his first wife died around 1877, his widowed half sister Mary "Mollie" Spainhower came to live with him and take care of his five children until he remarried late in 1880.

There was an additional Josiah Evans in Morgan/Cass Co., IL who was slightly younger. I believe that they were cousins, but have not yet found this link. That Josiah is the one that married Martha Collins and Amanda Lentner.
