Biography

Evan Evans, was born 1682 in Wales. He married Margaret, born in Wales in 1686. The family emigrated to America about 1722 and puchased land near the Friends Meeting House in Uchwlan, Chester County, PA. The deed refers to him as a feltmaker. [1] The Meeting House land was set aside in a previous deed restriction, not by Evan Evans. Unlike many of their countrymen, this Evans family was NOT Quaker, they were Anglican. [2]

Evan Sr. Died in 1731 and his wife Margaret was named administratrix in his will. [3]

Children of Evan Evans and Margaret are: Mary Evans, Martha, Susanna, Ann, Evan, Thomas, Richard, and Edward (the last three born in Chester County). Margaret petitioned the Orphans Court on behalf of her children in 1733. [4] When Evan Jr. died in 1748 he named in his will Thomas, Richard, Martha, Mary, Margaret ,and Susanna.[5]
