Biography

Sterling is believed by researchers to be the son of William and Mourning (Diggs) Evans, a son of Capt. Charles Evans, Patriot of the Revolution of Cheraws District, SC.

He had a brother named Albert who also has a large family in Chesterfield (aka Cheraws) as did William.

He is named in a suit filed by his wife's mother and brother in 1844 pertaining to a repartitioning of the estate of Charlotte's father -"Charlotte now wife of Sterling Evans." [1]

His birthdate has been shown as 10 Oct 1821, a source is not known currently.

Pleasant McManus, et al v. John McManus, et al

In 1850 Charlotte Williams is living with Elizabeth McManus, not to be confused with her Starlin's wife,

Hi Jeffrey,

I appreciate your paying attention to the rare Evans I have on wikitree. If you are a descendant of Sterling I’ll be happy to transfer him to you as Evans is a collateral line. Some of the additions (sources) are not sources according to guidelines e.g. linking to other peoples websites that do not have primary evidence. I would appreciate avoiding those. Any direct primary evidence – like the Civil War info, is much appreciated!! Also would you mind doing the “clean up” and guidelines-style for sources links when to you change anything? I spend my life cleaning up and will probably never get it all done according to wiki guidelines as it is. Thank you kindly, and again if you are related to Sterling, I can transfer him to you.
