James Ernest Evans was born about 1887 in Chapel en le Frith, Derbyshire, U.K. to John EvansMary Waters.
James Ernest Evans fought in the Field Artillery in WWI in France, specifically at Ypres ( via old postcards - long since destroyed by a little girl) He lost his hearing behind the big guns.
He immigrated to Canada in 1921 on the Steamship 'Grampian' with his wife Eleanor Louise Gaskin and his six month old daughter (my mother) Joan Louise Evans.
He worked as a machinist in the Cornwall, Ontario plant of Courtaulds Canada (a rayon manufacturing plant).
In his spare time he "tinkered" around.
He had a few heart attacks and a few strokes all of which he survived very well, until the last one. He passed away about 1977. [1]
