Biography

Lewis was born 4/29/1846 in Maryland. He was the son of Alexander Ewing and Lucinda Johnson. In 1850 and 1860 Lewis was living with his parents and siblings in Cecil, Maryland where his father was a farmer. By 1870 Lewis was living with his brother Eli in Cecil. Lewis married Eliza Jane Montgomery on 11/16/1871 inColora, Cecil, Maryland. In 1880 Lewis and Eliza were living with their children in Port Deposit, Cecil, Maryland where Lewis was a laborer. Lewis was widowed in 1894. In 1900 Lewis was living with his children in Port Deposit. In 1910 Lewis was living in the household of Howard Barnes in Port Deposit where Lewis was a hired man. By 1920 Lewis was a boarder in Howard's home. Lewis died 8/1/1923 and is buried with family members in the West Nottingham Cemetery inColora, Cecil County, Maryland.
