Biography

James was born about 1675. He passed away in 1740. James Ewing had his will written on December 14, 1739, which was proven on November 28, 1740. The executors were Robert McClelan and William Lindsay, "my sons-in-laws," he stated. It is not known when he came to the colonies (presumably from Scotland or Northern Ireland) but he purchased 200 acres of land in 1722[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

Ewing-380 and Ewing-3583 appear to represent the same person because: Information presented seems similar or the same.

Clearly, there needs to be some house cleaning wrt to these two (Ewing-380 and 3583), hopefully the progeny stake holders will clean up the confusion.

Ewing-380 and Ewing-3583 are not ready to be merged because: I made an error in removing the "unmerge" created in May of 2020, by S (Hill) Wilson and after "unmerging the unmerge" that is logged as "removed merge" and then I recreated the original proposed merge, which I now will put back to its earlier state of "unmerged".

In more descriptive terms, I screwed up, by removing a hold (unmerge) status and then proposing a merge that I have now fixed by placing the proposed merge on hold (unmerge status) that S Hill Wilson recognized as the appropriate condition in May of 2020

Sorry for the confusion

Unmerge term should be called "not ready" or "uncertain" or "Uncertain-Not Ready/Hold"

Ewing-4476 and Ewing-3583 appear to represent the same person because: These two people are obvious duplicates. My mistake in failing to find Ewing-3583 and creating a new Ewing-4476. If you put me on the trusted list, I can complete the merge. thanks.
