When Anthony Butler Ewing was born in 1812 in Jessamine, Kentucky, his father, John, was 23 and his mother, Nancy, was 21. He married Martha Jane Teague on April 19, 1836, in Pulaski, Arkansas. They had five children during their marriage. He died on March 2, 1852, in Pope, Arkansas, at the age of 40, and was buried in the Ewing graveyard (private property), Arkansas.
Fought in Florida Indian war in around 1842 with Arkansas Volunteer Mounted Gunmen for 10 days and rewarded with land in Pope County. He served as a Private under Captain Scott.
