Biography

Ireland Native
William Fagan was born in Ireland.
William Fagan was an Assisted Immigrant to New South Wales.

William was born in Londonberry, Ireland in 1826.[1]

He was an early Australian Free Settler aged 20 on arrival in 1848.[2]

Fagan Park at Galston is named after him.

He married Anne Waddell in 1848. There are two records of their marriage in the New South Wales BDM Register. The only difference between the two is the registration number.[3][4]The district shown in the New South Wales BDM register was "JB" which was an early New South Wales Church Code for the Presbyterian Church - St Andrew's Scots Church, Parish of Sydney. [5][6]

They had 7 children.

He passed away in Dural in 1896.[7]

He was buried at the Dural Uniting church Cemetery.[8]

Hi Roy,

Just checking on William's parents - on this profile, his father is listed as "Peter Fagan". However, on William's death record in the New South Wales BDM, his father is listed as "William Fagan" and mother "unknown". On the Family search Genealogy website, his parents are listed as William John Fagan (1798 - 1870) and Nancy Wilson (1800-1855). kind regards..........Nigel Clark
