Biography
Martha Catherine "Mattie" (Fagan) Hawkins O'Shields was born to Benjamin Bristol Fagan and Mary M. (Smith) Fagan. She was one of ten children. Martha first married Thomas D. Hawkins 15/Jan/1865 in Forsyth County, Georgia and had two daughters, Lizzie and Ida. After Thomas died, she married Harvey O. O'Shields 22/Jan/1874 in Fulton County, Georgia. She had six children with Harvey. One was a stillborn infant and another son, Joseph, died at almost a year old. The rest of her children grew to adulthood and had families of their own. She lost sight of one eye and was in a wheelchair in her latter years. (Bio written by me for Find A Grave)
