Biography
John Fain was the son of Nicholas Fain and Elizabeth Taylor. John Fain married Nancy Agnes McMahan believed to be the daughter of John McMahan.
John served in the Revolutionary War and was in the Overmountain Militia during the Indian Wars. He was in charge of a company that was sent out on patrol of the Tennessee River, in Aug 1788. The company came upon a an abandoned village called Citico/Sitico and found a apple orchard. The village was a trap, while the men were picking apples they were surrounded and many were killed. Sixteen men were killed, several wounded and escaped. Captain John Fain was killed.
