Clara Fancett was christened on 21 Sep 1783 at St Saviour, Southwark, England.[1] Clara married John Townsend on Christmas Day, 1801, at St Nicholas, Deptford.[2] They had nine children, but the two oldest did not survive infancy.
Clara Townsend ran a marine store and ship's chandlery at 37 Butcher Row, Deptford, from before 1840 to her death in 1854.[3] This store was listed in Pigot's 1840 London and Deptford directories.[4]
Clara died in October 1854.[5] She was buried on 27 October 1854. Later two of her daughters and their husbands were buried in the same plot.[6]
