Son of Middleton Fanning Sr and Delphia Ann Moore. Born circa 1804 in either Georgia, Alabama, or Tennessee.

Married Sarah Ann "Sallie" Doak in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Had 7 identified children.

Died circa 1880 in Kaufman County, Texas.
