Biography

Mary Sumner was born in 1704, in North Carolina, United States. She married Daniel Parker in 1756, in Monroe, Union, North Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. She died after 30 November 1780, in Gates, North Carolina, United States, at the age of 82 Mary was born about 1704.

When Daniel Parker was born in 1719, in Chowan, North Carolina, British Colonial America, his father, Richard Parker III, was 42 and his mother, Judith Watson, was 25. He married Mary Farlee in 1740. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. He died before May 1781, in Gates, North Carolina, United States, at the age of 62.

Daniel Parker made his will in Gates Co., NC 30 November 1780, and it was probated in May Court, 1781 names wife Mary, grandson Daniel son of Luke, sons Demsey, Isaac and Robert, daughters Sarah Horton, Ruth Riddick, Judah Griffin and Mary Chitrel.

Abstracts of North Carolina Wills 1663-1760, page 18. You will notice there are two James Farlees listed. The first one on the page is made in 1727. The second one is made in 1750. I have recently discovered that the first James Farlee is the father of the second James Farlee. James gives the names of his children as Mary Parker, Samuel, James, Christian(a), and Sarah. Mary's husband, Amos Parker is a witness to this will. This is clearly Mary's husband, and not Daniel. On page 24, in the book, "Following the Land", by Raymond Parker Fouts, she gives an idea of who Daniel Parker's wife, Mary's maiden name might be. She gives the maiden name of Sumner, as a possibility, since Daniel and Mary had a son, Luke, and that name is associated with the Sumner surname. Jacob Sumner is a witness to Daniel's will. Look for more on here later.
