Biography
When Nancy Farmer and her twin brother William A. were born in 1782 in Pittsylvania, Virginia, their father, Isham, was 31 and their mother, Elizabeth, was 31. She married William Tunstall Shields (1753-1845) on October 22, 1798 in Halifax County, Virginia[1] and they had at least three children:
- Sarah Shields (1798–)
- James Anderson Shields (1800–1873)
- Joshua Shields (1808–1853)
