Services for Douglas "Doug" Farmer Sr. will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Pineville, with Dr. Gary Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Pineville.
Farmer, 83, of Pineville died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
After graduating from Bolton High School, he attended Louisiana College. He served as commander in the 40 & 8. He also served in the Philippine Islands during World War II as sergeant major. He was a member of the VFW. He served 56 years as post commander to the American Legion and was a member of the George Simmons Post. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Pineville for more than 65 years.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Brewer Farmer of Pineville; one son, Dr. Roy Farmer Jr. of Houston; two daughters, Katherine Vinterella of Macon, Ga., and Betty Ann Yoist of Pineville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until shortly before time of services Thursday in the funeral home.
