John Bynum Farmer was born September 28, 1876.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] His parents were Hampton Farmer and Martha Shivler(Martha's last name is uncertain, but could just be a spelling issue: Shivrar, Shivler. Karr-191 12:54, 16 December 2014 (EST) ). He did have several siblings, including Kittie Odel (O'Dell) Farmer and James Harvey Farmer.[10] Sometime between 1880 and 1898, he had moved from Logan County, Illinois to Melvern, Osage County, Kansas, where he spent the rest of his life.
December 14, 1898, he married Cora Belle Kingery.[11] Together, they had three daughters that lived to adulthood: Elsie H. Farmer, Tressa L. Farmer, and Bernice L. Farmer. Elsie was born around November 1899 in Osage County, Kansas.[3] Tressa was born around 1904[4] and Bernice was born around 1913[6], presumably also in Osage County. After 1920, his mother, Martha, had moved to live with them until her death in 1925.
John died in 1951[1], and was buried in Melvern Cemetary. Cora Belle was buried beside him after her death.
