Biography

Lavina Farnsworth Lyon was 85 when she died. She is buried in Moreland Baptist Cemetery, Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, USA.

She married Joseph Watson Lyon, who died in 1858. Her will was written 17 March 1869 and brought to probate on 3 Jan 1871, following her death, which appeared to have happened in Delaware Twp, Northumberland County, PA., not Fairfield, Lycoming, PA.

In her will, she requested that "my body be decently prepared enclosed in a plain cherry coffin and burried [sic] beside my late husband, Jos. W. Lyons in the Baptist burial ground in Moreland..." She also decreed that the balance of her property be given to "my beloved Lavina Koons, new wife of William Koons of Derry Township, Montour County, PA."

Research Notes

Because of the discrepancy of place of death, it is recommended that the profile manager research further if this Levinah Farnsworth who married Joseph W. Lyon and possibly had a child Lavina Lyon Koons is the one which is the daughter of John Farnsworth and Abigale Woolverton. All the locations mentioned are within 50 miles of one another, so it may indeed be that her place of residence was in Fairfield, which is close to Muncy where she was buried, and that the probate court which was closest to where she died was in the next county over.
