Biography

The advertisement (1) names Margaret as the second daughter of William Hanlon Esq of Kilkenny, and Charles' father as William Farquharson Esq of Invercauld, Drayton, late of Aberdeenshire Scotland. William Farquharson was married to Mary Maxwell.

Charles was Christened on August 5th 1836 in Glenmuick, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

He arrived in Victoria, Australia aged 21 years, on the Invincible.

He owned a "tidy little farm" on the Eton Vale Road.

"ACCIDENT TO Mr C. FARQUHARSON. The Ambulance Brigade received a call at 2.51pm yesterday to attend Charles Farquharson, aged 68 years, a resident of Drayton, who was suffering from a fracture of the left arm, caused by a fall from a ladder while engaged in pulling down a building on the Cox Estate. After rendering first aid the bearers advised him to seek medical attention. "

" FARQUHARSON _ HANLAN - At Drayton, on Monday 30th June 1869, by the Rev. Falgence Hodenbourg, Margaret, second daughter of William Hanlon Esq., of Kilkenny, Ireland, to Charles, third son of William Farquharson, Esq. Invercauld,, Drayton, late of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. (6)

The newspaper later (2) describes the accidental death of Charles, after he was crushed under his dray. He is buried in the Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery, Pbn 1, Row 7, Plot 46..
