Biography

On son Earl's marriage records, last name for Elijah and Charlotte was Farrer not Farrar although Earl's last name was spelled Farrar.

Points about the evident age gaps. Eli was born about 1813; Charlotte about 1829 so a 15-17 year difference in ages. Charlotte, Earl's mother, was the second wife of Eli.
Eli's sons listed on the 1870 US Census were born in 1852 and 1856. Earl was born in 1874; Charlotte was age 45, and Earl was her second child. About an 18 year spread between son #2 and Earl.

Further details from the census. Census from Orwell Township, Bradford, PA Post Office: Orwell Hill Listed on July 21, 1870.

Charlotte was a second wife and not the mother of the 2 sons listed on the 1870 US census - Fred and Charles. Entries for both Eli and Sharlotte (Column 14) show that they were married within the last year (October 1869).

If she brought any children to the marriage and they were sufficiently young, they would be listed on the census with this family group. She married late in life, (age 39/40) and Earl was her second child; her first child was William, who is Earl's older brother.

Incidentally, Eli worked as a carpenter.

Farrar-1056 and Farrar-725 appear to represent the same person because: alternate spelling of first name, wife Emily and daughter are the same
