Notes from external profile

Stewart's grandfather Frank did well for himself. He obtained both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from London University. He became the headmaster of a primary school and, ultimately, principal of a teacher training college. He was also a writer. In 1904, he published a test manual called Handbook of General Information, a series of tests for the entrance examination into the Kings School. In 1910, Frank wrote Old Greek Nature Stories (First published Apr 1910, reprinted Dec 1910, Jan 1914 & Oct 1921), which included stories and legends of Greek Gods and Goddesses, a topic which was popular at the time and not uncommon, and therefore not necessarily a mark of personal Pagan interests. The Classics were taught in all British schools, and all students would have been expected to study and learn about the Greek Pantheon and mythology. 2 1901 Census: 7 people + 1 domestic living at 230 Vicarage Road, Leyton: Francis A Farrar, Donald F Farrar, Edith J Farrar, Francis A Farrar, Francis J Farrar, Isabell J Farrar, Mabel W Farrar, Walter F Farrar and Mary Anne Blank (Black?).

He passed away in 1931. [3]
