Biography

BIRTH
Joseph Farrar, Jr., was born the10th October 1716, in Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, to Joseph Farrar (1692-1733) and his wife Mary. [1]

MARRIAGE and CHILDREN
On 7 March 1743, Joseph married Deborah Richardson, daughter of Capt. Zachariah Richardson and Sarah Butterfield, in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. [2] Sarah was the daughter of Captain Zachariah Richardson (Josiah, Josiah, Ezekiel) and wife Sarah Butterfield[3] (Benjamin, Nathaniel, Benjamin). She was about sixteen years old at the time of their marriage and together, Joseph and Sarah Farrar had the following known children:

  1. Marcy Farrar, b. 17 Jun 1747, Chelmsford ; m. as Marcy Farrow Jirah Fish, Sr. aft & Feb 1767, Dartmouth, Bristol, Mass. ; she d. 16 Sep 1821, Leeds, Androscoggin, Maine
  2. Bridget Farrar 11 Jan 1753, Chemlsford ; m. Wiley Richardson abt 1774, Massachusetts ; she d. 28 mar 1782, Westford, Middlesex, Mass.
  3. Ruth Farrar, b. 4 Feb 1755, Chelmsford ; m. Joseph French, 5 Oct 1775, Templeton, Worcester, Mass. ; she d. 20 Jun 1813, (prob) Massachusetts
  4. Jonas Farrar, b. 5 Sep 1762, Chelmsford ; he d. 5 Jun 1806, Chelmsford, Mass. ; not known to have married
  5. Peter Farrar, b. 4 Jan 1765, Chelmsford
  6. John Farrar, b. 16 Aug 1767, Chelmsford ; m. Elizabeth (Unknown) ; he d. 22 Jan 1830, Chelmsford

DEATH and BURIAL
Joseph died the 20th April 1797, and is buried in the Forefathers Burial Ground, situated in Chelmsford. [4]

A legible gravestone image is available in his Find-A-Grave memorial. It reads [4]

"In memory of Mr. Joseph farrer who died April 20, 1797, in the 79 year of his age"

Caution:
In the generic index records title "Massachusetts, U.S. Town Death Records, 1620-1850" is a death date of 22 Apr 1797. The underlying original source reference, for this index record interpretation, is not given. This date may represent his burial.

In the generic index record entitled "Geneanet Community Trees Index (online family trees)" represents an aggregated collection of online family trees, at some unspecified point in time and regardless of whether or not the life event data roll up (aggregated) has been supported by credible source references.

His mother's surname is Unknown: In the "Geneanet Community Trees Index of (online) Family Trees" his mother is being identified as "Mary Haskins". This surname needs to be researched but at this time a primary source reference is not coming through the online databases for Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org and AmericanAncestors.org.
