On 27 January 1803, when he was in his late twenties, he married Martha Patsy McNeil in Knox County, Kentucky, and they had one known child, whom they named John and who spelled his surname with just one "r."
When he was in his later fifties, George died of unknown causes, on 6 February 1833 in Laurel County, Kentucky.
