Sarah Farris was born in 1799 in Lincoln, Kentucky, United States as the first child of William Farris and Margaret Shannon. She had seven siblings, namely: Johnson, Nathan, Spicey Ellen, Thompson, William M, Elizabeth, and James Bird.

When she was 17, She married Meredith Hazelwood on 22 Aug 1816 in Paoli, Orange, Indiana, USA. (permission of father William Farris).

She died before 1890 in , Cumberland, Illinois, USA.
