She was the daughter of John Thomas and Rosannah Waters Farrow. Wife of Caleb Woodruff.
From the book "A Genealogical History of the Farrow, Waters and Related Familes", by Aubrey Doris Goolsby Farrow, comes the following:
"Thomas Farrows's daughter, Rosannah, married Caleb Woodruff who at about the age of 45 or 50, I guess, was waylaid by two Negroes and beaten to death with clubs. They said that a man in the neighborhood against who Woodruff was a witness in court, hired them to kill him. The Negroes were hanged, but the white man was not prosecuted as a Negro's testimony against a white man did not stand in the slave states in those days. Mr. Woodruff left 12 children on his widow's hands- eight sons and four daughters; seven of whom were grown and married and so were not really on her hands. She never married again but devoted her time to her children and her maternal duties in rearing them, all of who grew up to manhood or womanhood and none of whom disgraced the mother who so nobly devoted herself to their intrests. Nearly all of them have followed that good mother into the spirit world, except a few who preceded her." This letter from Rev. Daniel Bragg Clayton to his cousin Jennie was written on Aug. 1, 1894.[1]
