DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Kevin or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Kevin:

Hey, Kevin!

I don't know why people keep getting into John Faulkenberry's profile page and changing the setting for "confirmed with DNA". I have put it back to where it should be. Andie is finishing up on a very important blog entry for her wordpress page and should be posting it before Christmas. She has this lineage nailed down! I have also been chomping at the bit to get our Hendrick Jacobs Falkenberg set right. If you follow my family tree back through the generations, you will find the correct families. These are OUR PROVEN ancestors. I think you will enjoy Andie's newest article! Hope you and your family have a very enjoyable Christmas!! Take care.... Teresa

KEVIN!!! I think that would be an absolutely AWESOME thing to do. Is it FTDNA?? That is where ours is. AND my brother's DNA actually fell right in with both sites, the Faulkenberry / Fortenberry site as well as the Valkenburg site (Van Valkenburg as well as various other spellings). Andie is still working on her huge blog entry for her site about the Faulkenberry boys that moved into the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. It's ground-breaking and will answer a lot of questions for a lot of Southern Fortenberry (Faulkenberry, Van Valkenburgh) families. She should be ready to post within the next month or so. Slow going on the footnotes!! Can't wait to see your results!!

Kevin... I can be reached at [email address removed] One of my younger sisters, Linda Wood, has our family tree on Ancestry. I think hers might be under Chuck Wood. You should be able to do an ancestry search for our dad, Adrian Fortenberry and come up with her trees.

Hi, Kevin... I just created Israel Faulkenberry on WikiTree.... or rather updated an abandoned profile. I adopted the profile, but if this is YOUR family tree, please let me know .... I would be more than happy to have more managers here!! The 1790 Lancaster county South Carolina census is horrible, but fortunately, our Faulkenberry men are in a section that is somewhat readable. Once I get it cleaned up a little more, I will post it on Israel's page. I have the 1830 Monroe county, Alabama census up already and there are others I want to post. I am going to try and work out other siblings for William Jasper and Israel, but you know how research goes... slow... but proven!!

Hey Kevin,

You can asked me about documented last names. I would consider documented sources as court records, land deeds, birth certificates, etc. but even those vary in spelling. In some cases I believe families just spelled it their way and sometimes others 'translated' or spelled incorrectly. If we have a documented source, I would make that the primary but would also list other known last names. Teresa may have more info here as she and her sister are actively checking records to back their research.

I am very interested. Thank you for offering to share information. You can use my personal email [email address removed] and I will reply. I do cast a wide net because I have often found data by preponderance of evidence. I see the comment below about the Criminger book. I would love a copy also or an update. I did go to her site last week and found her research enlightening and proof enough for me. Welcome cousin. Family is everything.... Michael
