Biography

There appears to be some confusion concerning the birth date and place for Abigail Fellows. Four possibilities, none with source information, appear on this profile: 1642, in Ipswich, Massachusetts Bay Colony; 1642, in Bristol, Grafton, New Hampshire Colony; ca. 1645, in Ipswich, Massachusetts Bay Colony; 1656, in an unknown location. Further research is needed.

Abigail Fellows married Samuel Ayers in Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, on 16 Apr 1677.[1]

Children which may be theirs were:

  • John Ayers (b. 16 Mar 1678, Ipswich)[2]
  • William Ayers (b. 26 Jan 1681, Ipswich)[3]
  • Ephraim Ayers (b. 13 Feb 1686, Ipswich)[4]
  • Stephen Ayers (b. 13 Mar 1688/9, Newbury)[5]

Abigail Fellows Ayres has been provided with three possible dates of death: 1695 1714, and 1722. Since she was alive in 1713, when her sons quitclaimed their inheritance from her brother, Samuel Fellows, in her favor, she did not die in 1695.

The following children, registered in Ipswich, may be this Samuel's or another Samuel's but are not Abigail's. Note that the earlier children most probably belong to a different Samuel (since this Samuel would have been only about 13 when the oldest was born):
