There is an unresolved error with the birth data, Tynemouth is in Northumberland, South Shields is in Co. Durham. There is a North Shields that came under Tynemouth registration district. No records can be found of any birth within 5 years of the 1818 claimed and no records of Elizabeth as mother, so far.

The fact that Elizabeth Purves married a Thomas Fenwick in 1818 makes it unlikely, though not impossible, for her to be Peters mother. Possibly there has been a merge error, this Peter being the son of Thomas and Jane, Elizabeth married a different Thomas.
