She is often called a daughter of James and Agnes (Adams) Ferguson, but most gedcoms documenting their ancestry do not list a daughter Mary. They also state the first child of this couple was born in 1735, while Mary was supposedly born in 1733, making this parentage possible but undocumented.
James and Agnes, like Mary, had a son named Abraham.
