Archibald Ferguson was born in Scotland in 1770. He was the son of Duncan Ferguson and Jean King. Archibald was a farmer and early settler in Big Springs - now Caledonia, New York. He married Christie Anna McVean and they raised five children.
He served as an ensign in the 77th Regiment New York Militia McKay's Company - Caledonia, NY during the War of 1812. The Quarterly Journal of the New York State Historical Association (Volume 6).
