Biography

Fergus was the son of Fergus Ferguson and Jean Gifford of Edinburgh. His father was a Valet in the parish of St Andrew and later proprietor of 'Fergusons Tavern'.

Fergus was employed as an Accountant and an officer of the Justice of the Peace.

He married in 1829 at Logie, Perth to Alison Drummond. Two known children were born in the marriage, Helen Drummond and Jean Gifford.

In the 1840's 1 the family lived at 357 High St, Advocate Close. Census 1841 - Residence 357 High Street, Advocates Close, Parish Midlothian High Church, Occupation Clerk. Occupants - Fergus Ferguson 40, Alison Ferguson 28, Jean Ferguson 8, Helen Ferguson 3.

In 1851, at 24 Old Fish Market Close, Edinburgh New North. Occupation - Justice of the Peace Officer & Accountant, Occupants - Fergus Ferguson 53, Alsion D Ferguson 39, Helen D Ferguson 12. 2

Fergus died in 1864 at No 7 Richmond Place, Edinburgh aged 54. Alice was present at the time of his death.
